The All New ‘Old’ Planar 2 is on its way

Following hot on the heels of the resurrected Planar 3 Turntable, Rega have also announced the return of the Planar 2. Although using the same name, this is a completely redesigned deck utilizing all the latest advancements that Rega have made over the last few years.

NEW RB220 tonearm – New Rega designed bespoke zero play ball bearing assembly with ultra-low friction performance (Patent Pending).

New automatic bias assembly, re-designed stiffer vertical bearing housing, integrated arm clip, and our custom arm tube. 

Plinth – High gloss acrylic laminated plinth, stiffer and vastly improved appearance with ergonomically positioned power switch. Two plinth finishes at launch: gloss black & gloss white

Motor – New 24v low noise low vibration motor assembly and new PCB assembly. 

Bearing housing – Rega self-securing main hub bearing (Patent Pending) offering improved fit and construction reducing stress on the bearing itself.

Designed to remove potential energy problems from the plinth. 

Platter – New float glass ‘Optiwhite’ 10mm – Improved accuracy platter. 

Re-designed feet – New improved feet assembly to increase stability and reduce vibration transfer.

Carbon cartridge – supplied as standard on all Planar 2’s 

Motor cover tray – with integrated cooling. 

Optional lid / plinth protectors – supplied to prevent marks on the plinth and keep it looking its best.

The Planar 2 will be available in early May and retails at £375. It comes complete with the Carbon cartridge and is available in High Gloss Black or White. Order now to avoid disappointment as demand will be high!
